What Is Internal Medicine Training?

  • Internal Medicine Training (IMT) is a new programme due to replace Core Medical Training from August 2019. 

  • IMT will be a 3 year programme aimed at preparing trainees to become medical registrars.

  • Rotations will typically be 4 months in duration.

  • The programme will include at least 10 weeks in an  ITU/HDU setting and at least 4 months in an elderly care rotation.

  • Training pathways are slightly different depending on your intended specialty (ie Group 1 vs Group 2 specialties). Please refer to the recruitment website for more details.
