What Is Core Surgical Training?

  • 2 year programme

  • Expected outcome: attainment of core training

  • Typically 6-month rotations (can vary by Deanery) 

Interview Specifics

  • National recruitment

  • 3 x 10 minute stations

Interview Stations​ 

Leadership and Management Station (20 minutes total)

  • 3 minute leadership presentation

  • 2 minutes for follow-up questions

  • 5 minutes for management question

Portfolio Station (20 minutes total)

  • 10 minutes for review of evidence

  • 10 minutes for portfolio questions and discussion of achievements

Clinical Station (10 minutes total)

  • 2 clinical scenarios

  • 5 minutes discussion time is allocated for each scenario
